Szymon Jasnowski - a graduate from the Technical School for the Construction of Upright and Grand Pianos in Kalisz and a technician recommended by the Steinway & Sons company. He obtained a Diploma of the Steinway Academy and the title "concert piano technician", granted by the Steinway & Sons company in Hamburg.
In 1984, Szymon Jasnowski graduated from the Technical School for the Construction of Upright and Grand Pianos in Kalisz. From 1984 to 1985 he completed an internship at the sound correction department of the Calisia Piano Factory.
In 1985 he began to work at the School of Music in Słupsk and from 1986 at the Military Secondary School of Music in Gdańsk. From November 1987 he has co-operated with the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz. From 1987 to 2005 he co-operated with the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Pomeranian Philharmonic in Bydgoszcz and from 1997 to 1999 with the Wrocław Philharmonic.
Between 1992 and 1993, together with Jacek Bromski, he made his first capital restorations of the Steinway & Sons pianos for Prof. Tatiana Schebanova and Prof. Jerzy Sulikowski.
In 1996 he took a course at the Hamburg Steinway & Sons piano factory. Since then, he has constantly co-operated with the DUX recording company in Warsaw (assisting with CD recordings including those of: Stanisław Drzewiecki, Kevin Kenner, Janusz Olejniczak and Tatiana Schebanova) and the Editorial Office of Polish Radio Recordings (co-operating with sound engineers Gabriela Blicharz and Lech Dudzik in recordings of pianists, including: Jerzy Godziszewski and Krzysztof Jabłoński). Furthermore, he makes restorations of the Steinway & Sons pianos and is invited to prepare pianos for many piano festivals and competitions.
The most important undertakings from 1996 until 1999:
- restorations of the Steinway & Sons concert grand pianos at the Lublin Wieniawski Philharmonic, the Social-Cultural Society in Słupsk (Słupskie Towarzystwo Społeczno-Kulturalne), the Olsztyn Philharmonic and the Academy of Music in Warsaw; restoration of the Steinway & Sons Model O piano at the School of Music in Starogard Gdański.
- preparation of the Steinway & Sons piano at the International Paderewski Piano Competitions in Bydgoszcz
- preparations of the pianos during the Festivals of the Polish Pianistics in Słupsk (Festiwale Pianistyki Polskiej w Słupsku)
- preparation of the Steinway & Sons piano at the International Festival "Chopin in the Colours of Autumn" in Antonin - Grigiry Sokolov's recital (1998).
In 1999 he obtained a Diploma of the Steinway Academy and was awarded the title: "concert piano technician".
In 2001 he was invited by the Director Stanisław Leszczyński to prepare pianos at the International Stanisław Moniuszko Vocal Competition in Warsaw. This event resulted in constant co-operation with the Grand Theatre / National Opera and The Fryderyk Chopin National Institute. At The Fryderyk Chopin Institute he maintains the historical instruments belonging to the Institute – pianos by Erard (Paris, 1849) and Pleyel (Paris, 1848), at which the following pianists gave concerts and have made recordings: Fou Ts'ong, Nelson Goerner, Janusz Olejniczak and Dang Thai Son.
In 2003 Szymon Jasnowski improved his skills during the course at the Bösendorfer Factory in Vienna.
Since 2004 he has been constantly co-operating with CD Accord recording company (CD recordings among others of: Piotr Anderszewski, Rafał Blechacz, Ewa Pobłocka)
The most important undertakings from 2000 until 2005:
- general regulation and intonation of the Steinway & Sons concert grand piano at Eugene Indjic's residence in Paris, which resulted in constant co-operation during recordings of this artist for the French company Calliope (produced by Stanisław Dybowski and Zbigniew Kusiak)
- restorations of the Steinway & Sons concert grand pianos at the Academy of Music in Łódz, the School of Music in Łódz, the Academy of Music in Gdańsk, the Social-Cultural Society in Słupsk, the Grand Theatre / National Opera in Warsaw and the Warsaw Philharmonic.
- restorations of the Steinway & Sons Model C and O pianos at the Academy of Music in Łódz and at the Grand Theatre / National Opera in Warsaw.
From 1st April 2005 Szymon Jasnowski has been working at the Warsaw Philharmonic.
He participated in the selection of the Steinway & Sons concert grand piano for the 15th International Frederick Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, during which he was part of the Steinway & Sons staff. Recently, he also participated in choosing the Steinway & Sons concert grand pianos for Polish Radio, the Baltic Philharmonic in Gdańsk, the Royal Castle in Warsaw and pianos purchased by The Fryderyk Chopin National Institute.
He continues to prepare pianos at the International Music Festival "Chopin and his Europe", Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival and Festival of the Polish Pianistics in Słupsk (Festiwal Pianistyki Polskiej w Słupsku).
Presently Szymon Jasnowski constantly co-operates with the Warsaw Philharmonic, The Fryderyk Chopin National Institute, the Grand Theatre / National Opera, Polish Radio, the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, CD Accord and DUX recordings companies.
